Strategy Logistics - Airlines Flemingo duty free operator drops prices at Delhi airport Our Bureau
New Delhi April 7 The next time you fly in to Delhi from abroad it may be financially rewarding to purchase your duty free goods here rather than abroad. With the new promoters of Delhi airport awarding the contract to run the duty-free to a new joint venture partner, Alpha-Pantaloon, the current duty free airport operator, Flemingo, has decided to further drop prices, especially for liquor and cigarettes. Now, a passenger can buy one-litre Chivas Regal at $26 instead of $29 earlier. Similarly, a Johnnie Walker Blue label is now available at $111 instead of $126 earlier. "The decision is in keeping with the company strategy to offer the best prices in the region to the customer. Decision on how long the current promotion will run and whether it will be taken to the other 11 airports in India where we also run duty free shops will be taken after seeing customer response," Mr P.K. Thimmayya, the company's Vice-President, Marketing and Business Development, told Business Line.
