Making candidates `industry-ready'

Our Bureau

Coimbatore April 9 Pricol Academy of Excellence (PAcE), promoted by the Pricol Group of companies, is striving to give the candidates the "finishing touch" by training them to take up the right jobs.

The PAcE Director, Mr Vikram Mohan, said the group encountered problems in getting trained hands. "After recruiting freshers, we train them for 6 to 8 months to make them industry-ready. The academy would address this issue and help the candidate take up the right job. The faculty are from the industry and the curriculum is designed by the industry," he added.

"All the candidates who had enrolled in this year-old academy have been placed. The industry's requirement is huge. We plan to limit the intake per class to 30," he said.

PAcE consists of three wings - Academic wing, Competency Development Wing and the Assessment and Development Centre.

It would be offering programmes in IT, airlines, travel and ticketing management, cargo management and business English courses under the Academic Wing. Under a franchise agreement with CDAC, Thirvananthapuram, PAcE would offer two full-time and three part-time courses in software, IT and engineering fields.

It has tied up with PSG Institute of Management to conduct courses in airline management, ticketing and cargo management. It would work jointly with the University of Cambridge ESOL and British Council for conducting programmes to improve the English language skills, Mr Mohan said.

The Competency Development Wing would address the various professional and individual competencies, tailor-made for employees in the corporate world. The Assessment and Development Centre would ensure that people have the required skills for doing the right job.
