Foreign Trade States - Andhra Pradesh AP CM for better trade ties with Singapore Our Bureau
Hyderabad April 9 Andhra Pradesh is willing to present itself as a focus State in the upcoming conference called `Salam India'. This event will be organised by the Singapore Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry in August 2007. Giving this assurance to the 55-member business delegation from the Republic of Singapore, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, wanted an increased trade relationship in the near future. He briefed the delegation led by the Minister for Education, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, about the developments in the proposed seaport at Machilipatnam and areas of mutual interest, during a comprehensive interaction at the Assembly today on Monday.
Looking forward
The `Salam India' event commemorates the 60th anniversary of India's independence. The Singapore Minister said his country was looking forward to the Chief Minister's scheduled visit in May 2007. Singapore is expecting a big delegation of main companies and businessmen to interact with investors of Singapore and Asia Pacific region. The Singapore delegation on Monday visited Satyam Computers, held a session with GATI logistics and an interactive meeting with the members of the Confederation of Indian Industry, as part of their two-day visit to the State. This is the largest ever delegation from Singapore to India. The Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Singapore India Chambers and supported by the Singapore British Chambers of Commerce & Industry have sponsored the large contingent with representatives from industry, financial institutes etc. From Hyderabad, the delegation would visit Bangalore and Mysore.
