`Singur, SEZ issues need national perspective'

Our Bureau

Kolkata April 9 The problems surrounding Nandigram and Singur are part of the "pains and pangs of growth," said Mr Bushen Raina, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Eastern Region, on Monday while addressing a press conference.

"These issues (relating to Singur and Nandigram) need to be concentrated on and looked at from a national perspective. Policies have to be streamlined to ensure that these events do not recur. These are the pains and pangs of growth," he said. Mr Raina, who is stepping down as CII Chairman, that said CII would offer its suggestions to the Government on these issues.

He, however, clarified that the industry body was yet to chalk out any plans in this regard.
