Kolkata April 9 The management of Hindustan Motors has described as "baseless" rumours to the effect that a lockout will soon be declared at the company's Uttarpara factory in view of the ongoing agitation by a section of the workers there.

According to Mrs Soni Shrivastav, General Manager, Corporate Communication, CK Birla Group, about 2,200 workers attended work today even as "reduced" picketing in the vicinity of the factory continued. Mrs Shrivastav said there would be no meeting with the representatives of trade unions till free ingress and egress of employees and materials was allowed.
