Coimbatore April 9 There is relief for the students who are apprehensive about taking the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) test, that is the basis for seeking admission in the universities in the US, in a new format with ETS announcing the scrapping of the plan.

The organisation, which conducts the examinations across the globe, has announced that the decision was made in consultation with the Executive Committee of the GRE Board.

The announcement should bring immense relief to the students, particularly in India, China and Japan where the registration for taking the GRE General Test had been closed pending introduction of the revised format.

In a press release issued from Princeton, N.J, US, and posted on its web site (www.ets.org) the organisation said that "ETS has cancelled plans to launch the revised Graduate Record Examinations{lcub}logicalnot_shy{rcub} (GRE{lcub}logicalnot_shy{rcub}) General Test. The decision was made in consultation with the Executive Committee of the GRE Board.
