The Hindu Business Line : CEBBCO plans facility for refrigerated panel vans

The company has decided to set up a Rs 10-crore facility at Jabalpur with machinery imported from France and it will be ready by October, Mr Ajay Gupta, Director, told Business Line.

The company expects to sell 70 per cent of the production in the local market and export the rest to European markets.The vans will cater to the cold chain industry.

The Rs 500-800 crore industry is likely to expand to Rs 4,000-5,000 crore on the back of a retail boom.

According to a company release, the cold chain works on insulated PUF panel vans that do not allow for proper cooling for the products inside the van, as a result of which most of the farm products get spoilt.

The new sandwich panels will be made from layers of gel coat, resin and fibreglass.

The heat transfer value will be almost three times lower than that of the insulated vans currently made in the country.

It will also ensure lower diesel consumption by the cooling unit to maintain the same temperature inside the van.

The thickness of the panels would be 85 mm, against 150 mm available currently; the lower weight helps transport larger tonnages, which would benefit operators.
