Petroleum Marketing - Channels and Franchises Drop strike plan, Deora tells petro dealers Our Bureau
Mr Murli Deora
New Delhi April 11 The Petroleum Minister, Mr Murli Deora, has urged the dealers of petroleum products petrol and diesel to call off their proposed agitation and decision to close retail outlets on April 13. At a meeting here with the representatives of the Federation of All India Petroleum Traders (FAIPT), Mr Deora pointed out that the Government has always been sympathetic to their genuine demands. He said that the Government would endeavour to take a decision on the federation's demand for increase in commission on petrol and diesel sales by May 1 after consultation with oil marketing companies. The dealers are seeking a five per cent commission. They get a commission of Rs 0.89 on sale of every litre of petrol and Rs 0.52 on sale of every litre of diesel.
Stock variation
Regarding the issue of raising stock variation ceiling, the representatives were informed that a study by Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) has been commissioned to examine the impact of different climatic conditions in India on petrol and diesel stocks. IIP will be submitting its report by the middle of July, which will be considered expeditiously for appropriate decision, the Minister said. The issue of stock variation requires in-depth and serious scientific studies before effecting any change in the present norms. Mr A.K. Badhwar, President, FAIPT, and other representatives of the federation attended the meeting.
