To set up 100 schools, higher education institutions

New Delhi April 12 Real estate player Emaar MGF plans to enter the education sector in a big way by setting up 100 schools and a few higher education institutions.

The institutes would offer both general as well as specialised programmes in the field of business administration, retail management, arts, hospitality and tourism and nursing.

"The foray into the education vertical would be made by Emaar MGF Education that would own and finance all the schools," said a spokesperson of the company. Most of the schools would be established inside the integrated townships that the company is developing across the country to form part of the township's social infrastructure. The schools will offer CBSE, ICSE courses and international school certificates such as International Baccalaureate.

The first school, with a capacity of 1,800 students for classes V to XII, is expected to come up in the next two to three years near Neemrana (Rajasthan). It would involve an initial investment of Rs 100 crore.Emaar MGF Education will be the sponsoring body for investments and funds, while the schools will be managed by an independent charitable trust.
