SC Railway revenue up 18.8%

The South Central Railway (SCR) is ranked second in earning apportioned revenues for 2006-07. The zone has earned revenues to the tune of Rs 5,739 crore during the year as against Rs 4,829 crore, showing a growth of 18.84 per cent growth. In originating freight movement, the zone transported 62.2 million tonnes compared with 57.53 mt last year, up by 8.2 per cent, according to Mr Praveen Kumar, in-charge General Manager of SCR. Addressing the 52nd Zonal Railway Week celebrations here, he said new freight avenues such as granite and fly ash helped the zone ramp up freight performance. The Railway Board has allocated Rs 1,611 crore for the zone as against Rs 926 crore last year.
