Outlook Porsche expects to triple sales in India Our Bureau
New Delhi April 12 Porsche, the German sport cars manufacturer, on Wednesday said that it expects to triple sales from the Indian market over three years. Last year, the company sold 160 luxury cars in the domestic market and is seeking to increase the number to 550. As part of its expansion plan, the company plans to increase its dealer base in India Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. "We have incorporated Porsche Cars India Pvt Ltd. In the next two months, our Mumbai centre will be opened, and we are adding one each at Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai. By the end of the year, Porsche will have a total of five dealers in the country," said Mr Mohamed Rahman, Managing Director, Porsche Centre India. The company is targeting 200 units for the current year. "We expect to sell 240-260 units by 2008," said Mr Ashish Chordia, CEO of Porsche Centre India. Porsche has introduced its second generation Cayenne SUV in India at a price range of Rs 49,30,000 to Rs 1.1 crore.
