Retirement age in PSUs raised

The Cabinet on Thursday gave an across-the-board approval to all Ministries to increase the retirement age of their employees from 58 years to 60 years, subject to the financial health of the company.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Mr P.R. Dasmunshi said that the administrative Ministries would have the power to enhance the retirement age from 58 to 60 years in respect of every employee at board level and below in the case of public sector units that have been earning net profit for the past three years, have a positive net worth and have not received budgetary support for the three years preceding the year in which such an increase in retirement age is implemented.
