NH upgradation project in Bihar approved

New Delhi April 13 The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its approval for upgrading 780 km of roads in Bihar under the National Highways Development Programme Phase-III at an estimated cost of Rs 6,782 crore.

With this inclusion, total length of National Highways to be upgraded under NHDP Phase IIIA would be 4,815 km.

Briefing the media, the Information and Broadcasting Minister, Mr P.R. Dasmunshi, said, "The CCEA has approved four laning of 780 km of National Highways on BOT (Toll) mode at an estimated cost of Rs 6,782 crore, including cost of land acquisition, utility shifting, rehabilitation and resettlement, consultancy, etc. within the ceiling of 40 per cent of viability gap funding (grant) in accordance with implementation mechanism."

The inclusion of 780 km of National Highways in Bihar for upgradation over and above the approved length of 4,035 km under NHDP Phase IIIA was on the condition that the procedure for clearance for Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee would be followed.

MP-Maharashtra border

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs also gave its approval for awarding three National Highways projects in the MP-Maharashtra border - totally valued at Rs 1,616 crore.

The three sub-projects are for four-laning of the Khalghat-Madhya Pradesh/Maharashtra border section of NH-3 (total 82.8 km), Hazaribagh - Ranchi section of NH-33 (total 71.16 km) and Rohtak-Hissar section of NH-10 (total 89.36 km). The total projected cost, excluding land acquisition for the three sub-projects, is Rs 549 crore, Rs 524 crore and Rs 543 crore, respectively.
