Tata Motors bags Delhi bus order

Our Bureau

Mumbai, April 13

Tata Motors has bagged a prestigious order from the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) for 500 non-AC, CNG-propelled buses. The company has won the order participating in a global tender floated by DTC, matching world-class specifications and standards. The 500 DTC buses will be manufactured at Tata Motors' Lucknow centre and delivery will commence from the second half of 2007. The buses will be rear engine-driven, besides being fitted with automatic transmission and full pneumatic suspension. They are suitable for running on the routes of the proposed Bus Rapid Transit System, and are expected to transform the city traffic system well in time for the Commonwealth Games.

This is the single largest order for fully built low-floor buses received by Tata Motors till date. Tata Motors was the first in India to launch modern low-floor and semi low-floor buses in 2005.
