Bangalore April 13 Infosys plans to add 24,500 employees in FY 2007-08, of which 65-70 per cent would be campus recruits, said Mr T.V. Mohandas Pai, Head of Human Resources, Education and Research. About 6,700 employees would be added by the April-June quarter. "The projected hiring is based on the revenue guidance that the company has issued for FY08," he said. Infosys added 30,946 employees on a gross basis in FY07, while the net addition stood at 19,256, which increased the employees' strength to 72,241. The company effected a salary hike of 13-15 per cent for its offshore employees and 5-6 per cent for its onsite employees. Usually, Infosys used to give a hike of 3 per cent for its onsite employees earlier. But as the new business mix demands the right skills, we are effecting a one-time correction by increasing the salaries by an additional 2-3 per cent this year, Mr Pai said. As the battle intensifies for the talent pool, Infosys would look at adding 10 per cent of its employees from the non-engineering streams, which historically stands at 3-4 per cent, Mr Pai told analysts. The non-engineering graduates would require extra training and the compensation would also be lower, he said. The company is making substantial investments in creating a scalable training engine in Mysore to support its future growth. "By December 2007, we will have the capacity to train 13,500 employees at a time," Mr Pai said.
