More power cut for units in Maharashtra

Our Bureau

Mumbai April 14 A proposal to impose and additional 16 hours load shedding per week for industrial units in the State is likely to come for hearing on Monday, before the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC). The units are already subject to a 16-hour staggered load shedding in a week.

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) has sent the proposal in view of the acute shortage of power in the State. Over the weekend the load shedding had reached as much as 6800 MW.

Representatives from industrial estates run by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and those of the `Continuous Process Industries' would also meet the State Energy Minister, Mr Dilip Walse Patil, by Tuesday to find a way out of the current problems.
