Economy States - Andhra Pradesh AP may get Rs 30,000-cr Plan outlay G. Naga Sridhar
Hyderabad April 15 The Planning Commission is likely to approve an annual Plan outlay of over Rs 30,000 crore for Andhra Pradesh in the 2007-08 fiscal. The outlay, if granted, would be the biggest-ever package by the Planning Commission for any State so far and marks a 30 per cent increase over the previous fiscal's Plan outlay for the State, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, told the senior officials in meeting here on Sunday. The Chief Minister would be leaving for New Delhi on Monday for finalising the outlay. According to the draft proposals, the total outlay is projected at Rs 30,013.54 crore, including Central assistance as well as the State's borrowings out of a total estimated expenditure of Rs 70,052.86 crore. The total XI Plan outlay for the State is estimated to be over Rs 1,84,694.64 crore. The total expenditure of the State in 2005-06 was Rs 43,151.01 crore, including the Plan expenditure of Rs 13,479.41 crore. The total estimated expenditure in 2006-07 is Rs 52,219.06, including the total Plan expenditure of Rs 19,551.91 crore. In the current financial year, Andhra Pradesh's own resources are estimated to be Rs 18,030.43 crore. The State's borrowings would be at Rs 8,474.49 crore, while the Central assistance is pegged at Rs 3,508.62 crore. However, the total gross borrowings are estimated to cross Rs 13,428.75 crore, according to a release.
