Our Bureau

Hyderabad April 16 Immigration and resettlement solutions provider, World Wide Immigration and Consultancy Services (WWICS), is planning to tie up with the Andhra Pradesh Government to offer bridge courses in various trades to facilitate immigration into Canada and Australia on work permits.

Currently, the Chandigarh-based firm offers training in language and other courses for prospective immigrants to Canada and Australia besides providing consultancy services. "Hyderabad is a major market for engineering professionals and human resource in construction trades is plenty here. To make immigration easier for them, we plan to offer bridge courses to them," Mr B.S. Sandhu, Chairman and Managing Director, WWICS told newspersons here on Sunday.

More visas

The local officials of WWICS would work with the State Government on the modalities of offering bridge courses, he said, adding, "Since November 2006, the norms for issuing visas to skilled workers had been relaxed by Canada and in 2007, over one lakh visas for skilled workers would be issued."

Mr Curtis Panke, Director (Global Operations), Global Placement Services, said the Canadian economy was expanding at a phenomenal rate. "The manufacturing sector is growing rapidly and there is a requirement of over 50,000 skilled workers in areas such as construction, logistics and healthcare."

In view of the massive manpower requirements, the Canadian authorities may simplify the immigration procedures for the skilled workers very soon, he said.
