Shipping Variety - Tourism States - West Bengal Vivada Cruises opens art gallery on board Our Bureau
Kolkata April 17 Vivada Cruises, engaged in operation of a luxury cruise vessel "m v Paramhamsa" in the Sunderbans area in the Bay of Bengal delta, has opened an art gallery on board the vessel. "The objective is to provide a unique platform to Bengal painters to display their work to international tourists travelling to Sunderbans by the vessel every year," according to Ms R. Sushila, Executive Director of Vivada Inland Waterways. "The gallery is a microcosm of Bengal art rich in cultural heritage', she said pointing out that there was a proposal to hold artisan workshops on board. In all 50 paintings by eminent painters are on display on board; the theme being rivers, forests, nature and environment and the price ranging between Rs 20,000 and Rs 2,00,000 each. The three-deck cruise vessel is complete with 32 air-conditioned rooms with modern amenities. The on-board facilities include conference rooms, Internet and mobile connectivity through mini satcoms, global positioning system, multi-cuisine restaurants, open-air gym, library and lot more.
