48,000 tonnes pulses reach ports

Over 48,000 tonnes of imported pulses have arrived at Indian ports out of the total 2.25 lakh tonnes (lt) contracted. STC has contracted 1 lt, Nafed (0.7 lt), PEC (0.29 lt) and MMTC (0.26 lt).

According to an official release, the farm commodity prices monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs have generally remained steady or declined at the 18 monitoring centres over the week ending April 10. The Government has notified extension of duty free imports of wheat till December 31, 2007. Prices of wheat at retail level remained steady at 16 out of 18 centres. The price declined at Lucknow and Ahmedabad, it said.
