Infrastructure Khivraj Group plans another IT park; bags green building award Our Bureau
Chennai April 18 The Khivraj Group, a promoter of Olympia Tech Park, the 1.8 million sq ft IT park, plans to construct another IT park and two residential projects offering over 3,000 apartments, according to Mr Ajit Chordia, Managing Director, Khivraj Tech Park Pvt Ltd. Addressing a press conference after the award of gold rating for the largest green building in the world - the LEED Gold Rating. The award by the US Green Building Council was presented here on Wednesday by Mr David Bohigian, Assistant Secretary for Market Access and Compliance, US Department of Commerce. Mr Chordia said the green rating means that the building is environment-friendly building and energy efficient an advantage to the occupants. Because of its energy efficiency and a biomethanation plant proposed for effluent treatment, the project is eligible to claim carbon credits under the Clean Development Mechanism. It has a potential to earn over Rs 50 lakh a year through the sale of carbon credits. The project has been presented to the Central Ministry of Environment and Forests and is awaiting host country approval, he said. The Rs 400-crore Olympia Tech Park will have a total of about 13,000 people employed and the space has been fully taken up. The facility is a joint venture between Eveready Industries, Khivraj Group, and two Kolkata-based developers, Space Group and MK Group, Mr Chordia said. He said the two residential properties would come up on the Old Mahabalipuram Road, at Navalur over 25 acres and at Egatoor on an 80-acre spread. A total of 3,000 apartments would be constructed at the two locations. The first of the two will be launched in June, he said. Work on the IT park, an 800,000 sq ft facility at Pallavaram in Chennai, will start in three months.
