Retailing Pokarna plans more exclusive `Stanza' stores G Gurumurthy
Coimbatore April 19 The Andhra Pradesh-based Pokarna Ltd, manufacturer of the `Stanza' branded men's premium apparels, plans to open 15-20 exclusive stores mostly in metros in 2007-08. Many of them would be company-owned retail stores. The company is also keen on opening an exclusive `Stanza' outlet in Coimbatore. `We are yet to decide whether this will be company-owned or franchisee-run one and we are scouting for suitable location for the store in Coimbatore', said Mr Rahul Jain, Managing Director, Pokarna Ltd.
Ranges
Having positioned itself as the premium branded apparel player, Stanza has recently widened its garment offerings - formal, casual, fashion and luxury, the last one being introduced last month. The apparel brand uses 100 per cent cotton and blends mostly with linen for its product range. Its price is in the Rs 1,000-4,000 range with average pricing at Rs 1,500. Stanza, which is working on doubling its earnings from the Rs 25 crore (during 2006-07) to Rs 50 crore for the 2007-08, has recently introduced marketing of `Stanza' fabrics imported from Italy, Mr Jain told Business Line. Pokarna's apparel factory, located in the Apparel Export Park in Ranga Reddy district in Andhra Pradesh, has recently increased its garment production capacity and produces 3,500 shirts and 500 trousers a day.
