Attrition rate down

Hyderabad April 20 Satyam Computer Services Ltd, which currently has about 35,670 associates, plans to induct about 15,000 more during 2007-08.

The Senior Vice-President of Satyam Computer, Mr T. Hari, said of the new additions planned, about 45 per cent would be fresh recruits and the rest lateral hires.

He said the company now has about 39,552 associates, including in its subsidiaries and joint ventures. About 40 per cent of them have less than three years experience.

The net addition of associates was about 11,000, taking the total close to 40,000 recently.

Lower Attrition

Referring to the compensation package and the company career building initiatives, the Company Chairman, Mr B. Ramalinga Raju, said higher compensation packages and other management initiatives had brought down the attrition level during 2006-07.

Mr Raju said the attrition, on a trailing 12-month basis, fell to 15.7 per cent from 17.6 per cent in third quarter. Annualised attrition rate stood at 13.21 per cent compared to 21.9 per cent at the beginning of financial year 2007.

Mr Hari said the company along with the National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) has partnered with about 12 educational institutions aimed at strengthening the curriculum.
