Logistics - Supply Chain Management
India-US logistics network

Dachser, the Germany-headquarterd logistics solutions provider, recently took over AFT International, a US logistics service provider, and since the beginning of this month AFT became Dachser Transport of America. In February, Dachser founded a 50:50 joint venture in India with AFL, another US firm, and the joint venture company AFL Dachser now operates in 30 locations in India. Ever since Dachser launched the Indian joint venture, it was felt that a merger between the German logistics provider and AFT US was the next logical step and that is what happened. AFT International also represented AFL in North America. It is now felt that with the acquisition of AFT International by Dachser, the trade between North America and India would receive a big boost. AFT, whose services include air and ocean transportation, handling of imports and exports, logistics and warehouse solutions as well as Customs brokerage, has a close-knit network that extends from North America to India.
