Meet on power capacity targets

New Delhi, April 22

The Centre has called a meeting of chief secretaries and power secretaries of all states on Monday to take stock of their preparedness to meet the generation capacity addition target for the Eleventh Plan period and evolve pre-emptive measures to plug slippages. The meeting, called by the Power Minister, Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde, would deliberate on expediting work to complete rural electrification by 2009 and meet the Centre's objective of providing `power to all' by the year 2012, Government officials said.
