Economy States - Andhra Pradesh AP growth rate rose by 12.23% last fiscal Our Bureau
Hyderabad April 23 The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of Andhra Pradesh (at current prices) has gone up by 12.23 per cent to Rs 2,60,734 crore during 2006-07 as against Rs 2,32,331 crore in the previous year. The advance estimates show that the agriculture sector contributed Rs 62,405 crore, which is 23.93 per cent of GSDP. Its contribution last year was 25.91 per cent. Though declined, its share, however, is higher than the national average of 17.55 per cent. Reflecting the national trends, the industries sector reported an insignificant growth in terms of contribution to GSDP. It's share went up to 24.88 per cent (Rs 64,882 crore) as against 24.22 per cent (Rs 56,277 crore) last year. The share of services sector went up to 51.19 per cent (Rs 1,33,447 crore) from 49.87 per cent (Rs 1,15,856 crore) last year.
NATIONAL AVERAGE
This, however, was far lower than the national average of 54.74 per cent, figures compiled by Directorate of Economics and Statistics indicated. The GSDP at current prices do not reveal the actual economic growth because it contains the combine effect of the changes in the volume and prices of goods and services. To eliminate the effect of price changes or inflation, the GSDP estimates are compiled by evaluating the goods and services at the prices prevailed in the base year (1999-2000). At constant prices (1999-2000), the GSDP was put at Rs 2,02,116 crore for 2006-07 as against Rs 1,88,623 crore, showing a growth of 7.15 per cent.
Per capita income
The advance GSDP estimates put the per capita income (at current prices) at Rs 29,074 as against Rs 26,211, showing a growth of 10.92 per cent. The figure doubled in the last eight years. At constant prices, the per capita income is put at Rs 22,521 as against Rs 21,277, showing a growth of 5.85 per cent.
