HP BPO plans another centre in Chennai

With capacity to host 2,000 people

Hyderabad April 23 HP BPO, one of the largest multi-lingual business process outsourcing services providers in the country, is set to locate another centre at Chennai that will have the capacity to seat 2,000 people.

The Country Manager of HP BPO, Mr Sanjay Singh, said that the company employs around 6,500 people of the total 12,000 globally, across two centres in Bangalore and one centre in Chennai.

Already, the headcount in the country is more than 50 per cent of its globally dispersed entity offering non-voice based services, in the areas of finance and accounting, transactions processing, order management, analytics and employee services.

In Bangalore, they employ around 4,500 people in two locations and 2,200 in Chennai. The company was in the process of setting up another centre with capacity to host 2,000 people, Mr Singh said.

Speaking at the Nasscom meet here on Monday, Mr Singh said that HP multilingual facilities cover support in 30 languages offering function agnostic support services where knowledge management has emerged as one of the fastest growing area.

SATYAM Plans

The Senior Vice-President and Head Strategy, Satyam Computer, Mr Raghu Bhargava, said that the company has 28 global development centres wherein some centres such as in China (with four), Malaysia, Sao Paulo (Brazil) and Australia are set to rapidly expand. The company was in the process of exploring centres in Vietnam to service the Japanese market and Chile, for the Latin American business.
