New Delhi, April 23

The possibilities of starting runway operations in Kishtwar and Poonch area of Jammu and Kashmir was discussed at a meeting that the Chief Minister, Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, had with the Union Civil Aviation Minister, Mr Praful Patel, here on Monday. At the meeting, development work being done at Jammu Airport was also discussed. The airport belongs to the Ministry of Defence (IAF), while a civil enclave there is maintained by Airports Authority of India. The need for developing the airport is being felt as there has been a huge growth in aircraft movement that has now touched 168 per week up from just 36 weekly movements in 2004-05.
