Opinion - Letters
A benign policy

With another Credit Policy unveiled today, the common man is heaving a sigh of relief from the continuous spiral of interest rates. One feared further hikes since the last few weeks' inflation figures have been around 6 per cent. One hopes that the Governor's benign policy will cool not only inflationary expectations but also bankers' penchant for repeated rate increases. Otherwise banks may well have to look at the prospect of facing more defaults in the near future, especially in the home loan segment.
