Reliance Group shows interest in revamp of KMC markets

Our Bureau

Kolkata April 24 Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Group has evinced interest in taking part in the public-private partnership (PPP) model for upgradation and modernisation of markets under the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), according to Mr Alapan Bandopadhyay, Commissioner, KMC.

"Reliance has been showing interest for the development and upgradation of KMC markets through the public-private partnership route," Mr Bandopadhyay told Business Line.

The group, he said, has already participated in the tendering process for Park Circus market, which is likely to be open any day now.

KMC had earlier invited proposals for redevelopment of the market on the PPP model with the Request for Proposal to be submitted between March 15 and March 29.

According to the KMC Web site, currently there are nearly 23 markets under the corporation.
