S.P. Apparels acquires Natalia brand

Chennai April 24 S.P. Apparels Ltd has acquired the womenswear brand Natalia from the Chennai-based SM Apparels.

Announcing this at a press conference here today, Mr P. Sundararajan, Managing Director, S.P. Apparels, said the acquisition would enable the company, to tap the "immense potential in the womenswear market."

Targeting `upwardly mobile women' in the age group of 20-35, it plans a complete revamp of product range under the brand Natalia and will open six exclusive brand outlets across the country within the next six months. "The new product range will have smart casuals and speciality wear," said Mr Sundararajan.

Expansion Plans

The Rs 265-crore S.P. Apparels, a Coimbatore-based garment exporter and retailer, forayed into the retail business last year by acquiring the menswear brand Crocodile.

Talking about the company's retail expansion plans, he said S.P. Apparels is all set to expand its Crocodile's footprint by adding seven company-owned stores — two each in Delhi and Hyderabad, one in Bangalore, Coimbatore and Salem. At present, there are 43 Crocodile exclusive brand outlets across the country.
