`Art for a cause'

Kolkata April 25 Here is a story that will prompt you to think... for a little girl, suffering from cancer, one who is being supported by a clutch of corporates, including The Park, and artists who have donated paintings for a sale aimed at funding her treatment.

Billed Support 2007, the project will have on offer paintings done by a number of artists - Jogen Chowdhury and Paritosh Sen are two of the more well-known ones.

The project is aimed at lending a hand to Titas Mandal, the 14-year old, who is suffering from the serious ailment. Her father too is an artist. The project's theme is `art for a cause', said a spokesperson for Gallerie 52d, the gallery that is presenting the project, adding that the idea is to induce discerning buyers possess artwork, the sale of which will assist a patient.
