A Division Bench of Calcutta High Court comprising Mr Justice D.P. Sengupta and Mr Justice S.P. Mitra today granted bail to Mr Jagadish Sarda, one of the accused in the defective blood-testing kit supply scandal.
Mr Sarda, the younger brother of Mr Govind Sarda, was arrested on April 19.
The Calcutta High Court granted bail with two sureties of Rs 25,000 each and directed that he should not leave the jurisdiction of Calcutta High Court without the Court's leave.
He has been directed to meet the investigation officer twice a week.
Since the start of the investigation, Mr Jagadish Sarda had been absconding.
The police had also arrested his two brothers, Mr Govind Sarda and Mr Ghanashyam Sarda, who have been granted bail.
On April 19, Mr Jagadish Sarda surrendered before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Calcutta.
In the meantime, a Central Government investigating agency has examined the defective kits and has certified that they were in accordance with specifications.
