Hotel LeelaVenture wins bid for plot

Thiruvananthapuram April 26 The Mumbai-based Hotel LeelaVenture Ltd has won the bid for a plot for a hotel in New Delhi.

The company is believed to have outbid several major hospitality and real-estate players with its Rs 611-crore bid for the three-acre plot on Africa Avenue in South Delhi. The plot was put up for sale by the National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd.

According to Mr Vivek Nair, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Hotel LeelaVenture Ltd, the company intends to build an up-market hotel with 250 rooms and serviced apartments on the site, he added.

Hotel LeelaVenture, which currently has hotels in Bangalore, Mumbai, Goa and Kovalam in Kerala, is in the process of adding five new properties in Udaipur, Gurgaon, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune.

It is also considering the possibility of entering into management contracts for hotels outside India, especially in West Asia.
