Water Government - Politics States - Karnataka Cauvery row: CM favours mutual discussions Our Bureau
Mangalore April 27 The Karnataka Chief Minister, Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy, has again made an appeal to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr M. Karunanidhi, to sort out the Cauvery issue through mutual discussions. Addressing presspersons here on Friday, Mr Kumaraswamy said that the Supreme Court has suggested the States to sort out the issue through discussions. "Both Mr Karunanidhi and Ms J. Jayalalitha, former CM of Tamil Nadu, are senior to me. Compared to them, I don't have much experience in politics and administration. I again appeal to Tamil Nadu to sort out the Cauvery issue through mutual discussions," he said. "If that is done, it will make the federal structure of India more meaningful.". Mr Kumaraswamy said he had earlier expressed his desire to sort out the issue through mutual discussions while conveying `Ugadi' wishes to Mr Karunanidhi. Both the states should look into the availability of water in the river basin and adhere to the reality. These States should use the water available in the best possible way, he added.
