Pantaloon, Pearl Academy join hands for retail course

Deepak Goel

New Delhi April 27 To augment its talent resources, retail chain Pantaloon has joined hands with Pearl Academy of Fashion (PAF) for running a course in visual merchandising and retail experience management.

PAF will conduct the six-months `Retail Experience Management' course in Delhi that would merge design management process into the curriculum.

It would provide understanding of spatial and structural dynamics, creative design processes and an understanding of materials.

The retail company will provide on-the-job training and opportunities for projects at its stores including Big Bazaar, Food Bazaar, Pantaloon and Fashion Station.

"Pantaloon would also provide some faculty for the course, apart from nominating five of the 30 students who we will take in each batch," said Mr Anil Kumar Sharma, Head of the Department-Retail, PAF.

One of the objectives of the programme is to develop people, with a creative bent of mind and an inclination for working with spaces, into retail experience merchandising managers, who will be capable of taking an idea to its execution.

The eligibility for the course is 2-3 years experience in design or retail, and the fees is Rs 90,000.

However, employment for all the students in Pantaloon would not be guaranteed and the students would have to go through the routine placement process.
