Infrastructure Government - Policy States - Andhra Pradesh Cabinet approves allotment of 50 acres for Genpact SEZ Our Bureau
The land, located at Jawaharnagar, will be allotted at Rs 50 lakh per acre.
Hyderabad April 27 The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet today announced its decision to allot 50 acres of land to IT Enabled Services provider Genpact, for their proposed campus in a special economic zone near here. Genpact (earlier called GE Capital Services) now employs about 8,000 people handling a diverse set of technology processes for global clients and has indicated to the Government that they expect to add about 5,000 more to their company in Hyderabad over couple of years. Announcing this at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting, the State Information Minister, Mr Anam Ramanarayan Reddy, said the land, located at Jawaharnagar, would be allotted to them at Rs 50 lakh per acre. The company hinted at an investment of about Rs 100 crore.
SPORTS COMPLEX
Mr Reddy said the Cabinet approved the construction of a 15-storey Sports Complex with a capital outlay of Rs 72 crore planned ahead of the World Military Games to be held in Hyderabad in October. The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh has been entrusted with the task of construction of the complex, which would host about 750 participants of the 2,000 sportsman slated to take part in the mega event. The rest would be hosted at the Sports Village at Gachibowli.
Ordinance
The Cabinet approved an Ordinance that would pave the way for the new administrative structure of Greater Hyderabad, carved out of the merger of 12 municipalities. This would mean recasting the enactment that governs the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad. In another decision, the Government has decided to upgrade the 600-bed MG Memorial Hospital, Warangal, to a 1,000-bed facility and also approved the creation of about 549 new jobs, including 258 outsourced. In what could be considered a humanitarian case, a watchman of Roads and Buildings Department, after years of multiple litigations would now receive his pension nearly 26 years after retiring. The State apart from awarding Mr M. Satyanarayna of Guntur his pension and arrears, has instituted an enquiry on why such a situation arose and expanded the scope of enquiry to other pensioners adversely affected.
