ISPs Sify sets up tech centre in Hyderabad Our Bureau
Hyderabad April 27 Sify today announced the setting up of a technology centre in Hyderabad wherein it plans to induct about 500 people during the year. The company is also considering the possibility of locating a campus in Hyderabad. Sify plans to invest about Rs 5 crore initially and infuse more funds when necessary. The company closed the fiscal gone by with revenues of $140 million. Mr Raju Vegesna, CEO and Managing Director, said that the new centre will help Sify grow its enterprise market, which accounts for about half of the total business. These services would cover infrastructure management and hosting-related areas. Apart from building a redundant centre, it would take up development and support work in network management applications and tools, besides having specialised labs to address new technology areas. The mandate is to offer new breed of technology solutions to enterprise customers, Mr Vegesna said. CTO Mr Bhaskar S. said that the centre would develop new technologies in managed network services and virtual private networks while serving as a knowledge hub for technology development. The market for hosted and managed services is growing rapidly and Sify is seeking to step up its presence both in India and globally to offer these services to verticals such as banking and financial services, pharma, manufacturing and retail segments. Many enterprises are seeking third party data centre management options; Sify provides a host of services relating to enterprise data.
