New Delhi, April 28

The low cost airline SpiceJet has ordered 10 next-generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft valued at a list price of more than $700 million. In a statement, Boeing has said that the aircraft would be fitted with blended winglets, which will improve fuel efficiency, increase range, reduce carbon emissions and takeoff noise. SpiceJet, which began operations in May 2005 with three leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft, currently has a fleet of 11 Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The airline operates the aircraft in a single class configuration capable of seating 189 passengers.
