Rubber prices under pressure

Kottayam April 28 The physical rubber market suffered sharp losses during weekend session. The prices remained under pressure since there were no buyers even at lower levels. Traders and growers lost their confidence to hold the stocks, as there were no signs of recovery in the market, sources said. RSS 4 moved down to Rs 83.50 and Rs 84 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 85 on Friday.

Futures improve

The rubber futures improved on Saturday. The May contract for RSS 4 finished at Rs 84.40 against Rs 84.02 a kg on MCX. The May contract for the grade moved up to Rs 82.71 (82.55), June to Rs 85.61 (84.78), July to Rs 87.65 (87.18) and August contract to Rs 88.35 (87.69) per kg on NMCE.

Spot rubber prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 83.50 (85); RSS-5: 82.75 (84.25); Ungraded: 82 (83); ISNR 20: 82.75 (84) and Latex 60 per cent: 62.60 (63.15).
