Nissan Motor launches luxury sedan

Our Bureau

Mumbai April 28 Nissan Motor India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Japan's second largest automaker Nissan Motor, launched its luxury sedan Teana, in Mumbai on Saturday.

This is its second model in India, after the launch of X-Trail SUV in 2004.

The vehicle will be fully imported from Nissan's Kyushu plant in Japan and is priced at Rs 20.67 lakh ex-showroom in Mumbai.

Mr Neeraj Garg, Nissan Motor India's Director (Marketing and Sales), told newspersons here that the company expected to sell 350 units of the new model this fiscal.

"When we decoded to launch our second vehicle, we wanted to take advantage of the growing luxury segment. Our research showed that the Indian customers' expectation of a luxury vehicle matches what Teana offers," he said. Teana is powered by a 2.3-lt VQ23DE petrol engine, which is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission system.
