The Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur, West Bengal, will soon add new courses, apart from increasing the student intake by 50 per cent. The new courses planned are chemical engineering, earthquake and disaster management, and biological engineering.

In a workshop in the Capital on Saturday, the college aimed at benchmarking itself against the global top 10 engineering colleges to transform in to a centre of excellence. The college recently completed 150 years of existence.
