Sugar decontrol

With reference to the editorial "Time for full decontrol" (Business Line, April 21), I agree with the author's views. Most sugar units are run by cooperatives and influenced by the local politicians.

Farmers are finding it difficult to get a fair price for the produce. Hence, the need of the hour is to decontrol the industry and put in place an effective mechanism to ensure that the farmers, industry and consumers are equally benefited.
