Rural job scheme for more dists

Hyderabad, April 30

The Union Government has decided to extend the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) to six more districts in Andhra Pradesh, taking the total districts covered under the scheme to 19. According to Mr S. Santhi Kumari, Commissioner, Rural Development (Andhra Pradesh), the scheme would now be available in Nellore, East Godavari, Srikakulam, Kurnool, Prakasam and Guntur districts from this year. With the addition of these six districts, the scheme would now be available in over 900 mandals, covering 20,000 villages, an official release said.
