Rupee weakens against greenback

Mumbai, April 30

The rupee weakened by around eight paise against the greenback to close at 41.18 on Monday against the previous close of 41.0850/1000 on dollar buying by importers to meet month-end demand. The domestic currency opened at 41.20/25 and saw an intra-day low of 41.45 before closing at 41.18.

Market participants expect the rupee to trade in the 41.05-41.50 range. In forwards, the six-month premia closed at 6.06 per cent (6.80 per cent) while the 12-month premia ended at 4.85 per cent (5.12 per cent).
