Kolkata, April 30

United Spirits Ltd (USL) expects sale of its brands in eastern India to reach 10 million cases in the next two years from the current 7.5 million cases, according to Mr Kaushik Chatterjee, Chief Operating Officer, RPC - East, USL.

Mr Chatterjee said this would push up the company's market share in eastern India to 60 per cent from the current 58 per cent. USL, which has 150 brands, sells nearly 66 million cases nationally, covering 48 per cent of the domestic market share. "We expect to sell 10 million cases in next two years, from 7.5 million cases now, in eastern India. Volume will come through promotion and focused distribution," Mr Chatterjee told newspersons at a press conference to launch Royal Mist, a luxury whisky brand, here. This brand will be targeted at consumers of whisky in the luxury segment.

According to Mr Chatterjee, the company currently has one vodka, two rum, and 12 whisky brands selling over a million cases. USL currently has six bottling plants of its own and tie-ups with 10 other units in the East.
