New Delhi Apr 30 The Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr Anand Sharma, today invited Norwegian companies to invest in India in various sectors.

"I invite Norwegian companies to participate in the vast infrastructure boom that is now unfolding in India," the Minister said at a seminar organised by FICCI for a visiting Norwegian business delegation.

The Norwegian companies may also consider investing in chemicals, services sector, shipping, telecommunications, energy sector, food processing, fisheries, pharmaceuticals, metallurgical industries and knowledge-base industries, he added.

A delegation of women entrepreneurs from the European country is on a visit to India for identifying investment opportunities, especially in the small and medium enterprises sector.

"The visit is aimed at making contacts and creating ideas for business by way of meetings and interactions," said Ms Anne Lise Rognlidalen, Leader of the delegation.

She noted that establishment of Indian companies in Norway is on the rise, especially in the IT services and pharmaceuticals sectors and India is the fastest growing democratic country with high degree of entrepreneurship.
