`AI, Indian merger process will take 2 years'

Thiruvananthapuram April 30 The formalities for completing the merger of Air India and Indian will take nearly two years, according to Mr V. Thulasidas, Chairman and Managing Director of Air India.

He told newspersons here that the legal issues would be gone through by June. But the actual integration of fleet, networking and employees could take at least two years, he said.

He made it clear that there would not be any retrenchment of employees consequent to the merger. Mr Thulasidas said that Air India had signed a memorandum of understanding with Indian Air Force for intake pilots retiring from the force to the national carrier.
