Air Cargo Indian, Gati tie up for courier service Our Bureau
New Delhi May 1 Indian has tied-up with Gati to launch a joint courier service called IC-Zipp. The courier service that has been launched in 119 cities in the first phase is to charge between Rs 150 and Rs 500 for 500-g packages.

"The new service would primarily look at envelopes, documents and small boxes that weigh up to 5 kg. The price that is being offered is very competitive," the airlines' Director-Commercial, Ms Anita Khurana, said. Officials said the tie-up was a win-win situation for the airline, Gati and customer.
Network
"Indian has a large network, a fleet of 74 aircraft that can daily carry 1,000 tonnes of cargo. Gati has the capability to deliver in 594 of the 602 districts that cover the country. The tie-up will allow the customer to ensure that they have on-time delivery to most parts of the country," a Gati official said.

The launch of the service will also help Gati achieve the target of becoming a Rs 1,000-crore company by 2009, the company's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr Mahendra Agarwal, said. The new service offers real-time trace and track facility, and round-the-clock service for the customers. Indian and Gati has a 11-year strategic relationship that has focussed on offering enhanced services and cost-effective solutions in the field of cargo and express solution to a wide range of customers.
