Manipal AcuNova bags F&S award

Our Bureau

Bangalore May 2 Manipal AcuNova Ltd has said it has received the Frost & Sullivan Partner of Choice award for bio-availability and bio-equivalence (BA/BE) studies.

A release quoting Mr D.A. Prasanna, Vice-Chairman and MD of the contract research organisation, said, "This award is an assurance of global quality to our clients. India has emerged as a key destination for conducting clinical research. We are proud to be benchmarked by Frost & Sullivan in a field [where] there are several Indian players."

An F&S team visited Manipal AcuNova's centres at Bangalore, Mangalore and Manipal to evaluate it on criteria such as technical know-how of the personnel; value added services to customers; quality initiatives; responsiveness and significance of the technology in the industry.

Bio-availability (BA) is conducted on healthy human volunteers to demonstrate and prove that the study drug is biologically equivalent to the innovator drug and can be allowed for marketing in the same manner for the same indications. BA/BE studies are conducted to reduce the cost of treatment by producing generic lower-cost versions of an innovator drug molecule.
